Inspired by unpleasantries, I wanted to post an entry about my perm free process. I chopped off my hair in 2008. I cut it in a short bob which literally cut out all the perm. I haven't had a perm since July of 2008. Since then my hair has grown thicker, longer and healthier. I straighten my hair out a lot. Only because sometimes the curly state is hard to maintain. I have re-wet it all the time. It's cool in the summertime, but now it is winter....so going out in the cold with wet hair is not smart. I use Mizani products, (the True Textures line), but they are too expensive. But it keeps my hair soft and shiny. I also use the Mizani Milk Bath shampoo when I straighten my hair. I really need to get in the habit of getting my hair trimmed...although I want to learn how to trim my own hair since I do my own hair. I want my curls to fall like unpleasantries....I'll get there soon. Does anybody recommend any products I could use that are not too expensive?

Right before i cut it and still had perm on tne ends, sorry i dont have a pic with my short bob...Collapse )

Here are some pictures of my hair curly and one with my hair straightened...Collapse )

This journal is for the women who are on a journey to natural healthy hair. For women who go to salons every four to six weeks to get their hair permed, risking their scalps and edges to be burned. Bo longer will we have to subject ourselves to these chemicals in order to have long, straight, and flowing hair. Our hair is naturally curly, kinky curly, and even nappy but it is beautiful.  Let’s not conform ourselves into what the media says we should look like. We should take pride in who we are and what God gave us when we were born, by starting to appreciate and love ourselves from the head to toe. It will be long journey, it might be longer for others, but we can all do it together and look Naturally Beautiful! This journal will contain advice, tips, styles, and ways to maintain your natural do......Please feel free to express your journey to natural hair. All new members please post how long you have been perm free, a picture of your natural style, and share any styling tips!
